Occasionally access to the Cathedral may be restricted due to events taking place.
Southwark Cathedral is a busy working church, regularly hosting services and events. It may be neccessary to close all or part of the Cathedral to visitors to allow for these events to take place.
The Cathedral Shop and Cathedral Cafe will remain open during these times unless stated otherwise.
Thursday 21 August
Works will be taking place in the Millennium Courtyard on this day. The main Cathedral entrance will remain accessible though there may be some disruption across the day.
Saturday 13 September
The Cathedral will be closed on this day due to a Festival of Preacing taking place across the day. Our regular services will continue in the Harvard Chapel which will also be kept as a place for prayer and reflection.
Tuesday 16, Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 September
The Cathedral will be closed to visitors due to filming taking place across the building. Our regular services will continue in the Harvard Chapel. A member of Cathedral staff will escort people to and from the chapel for services.
There will also be an area set aside for private prayer and reflection.
The Cathedral Shop and Cafe will remain open across these days.
