London Day by Day is a collection of 20 pieces of work, a combination of framed giclee prints and new original works. Peta Bridle is an urban sketcher, inspired by Geoffrey Scowcroft Fletcher – the original urban sketcher of London, who recorded the capital from the 1950’s to 1980’s. Peta draws on location throughout London, sitting on the pavement to draw so the viewpoint is low. The majority of the work is penciled on site and later inked in Quink fountain pen using a Chinese calligraphy brush.
Peta favours quieter spots; with a broad subject matter from historic buildings and alleyways to shops, gardens, churches and the Thames. London Day by Day depicts many London locations along with a very recognisable Cathedral cat!

About the artist
Peta Brindle is an urban sketcher who draws on location throughout London. Working from a low viewpoint, they often sit on the pavement to capture their subjects directly from life. Most of their sketches are pencilled on site and later inked using Quink fountain pen ink applied with a Chinese calligraphy brush.
They are drawn to quieter corners of the city, and their subject matter is wide-ranging, encompassing historic buildings, alleyways, shops, gardens, churches, and scenes along the Thames. Their sketching practice is balanced alongside their professional role as a Support Worker for adults with special needs, and they visit London to draw whenever time allows.
Peta completed an MA in Sequential Design and Illustration at Brighton University in 2003. They previously held a solo exhibition of acrylic paintings and ink illustrations at the Cathedral in 2011, followed by a smaller exhibition showcasing their drypoint etchings.
