Southwark is now home to London’s first and only permanent Mudlarking exhibition that includes a monthly star find fresh from the foreshore and a different ‘guest display’ every 3 months

Our current guest display is an incredible collection of medieval pilgrim badges, many of which were found in the Thames close to the Cathedral and kindly loaned to the Cathedral by Colin Torode of Lionheart Replicas.

The mudlarking case lets you get your eye in without even getting muddy. Search among the shingle for some of the most common things you're likely to find - pins, coins, pottery shards, roof tiles and buttons - and come back each month to see a different star find, freshly mudlarked from the foreshore.

These displays are located in Lancelot's Link close to the main entrance and no booking is required to view them.

Southwark Cathedral is fundraising for new exhibition display cases to help tell the story of mudlarking, in addition to the history of Southwark Cathedral, the local history of the area and the social history of London.
